One of the main roles of the lymphatic system is to remove waste from every cell in your body. The lymphatic system is very important in the human body and runs mostly throughout the entire body. One key difference between lymphatic tissue and your circulation is that the lymphatic system does not have a heart (pump) to move it throughout the body. This is why consistent daily exercise and hydration are crucial to keep the lymphatic system and lymph nodes healthy. You can also follow these 5 tips to ensure that your lymphatic system is not congested.
1. Drink Plenty of water:
The lymphatic system is rich in water and if you are not hydrated, the lymphatic system will hold on to water. You also need water to help excrete and remove toxins through your liver and kidneys. A good rule of thumb is to drink 50% of your body weight in ounces of water every day.
2. Take deep breaths:
Breathing can do so much for your body. When the body is put under stress, it is forced to produce more cortisol. More cortisol means more inflammation, which inevitably increases the amount of free radicals within the body.
Deeps breaths can calm your heart and nervous system to change brainwaves, and even to help the lymphatic system drain and stay healthy.
3. Exercise:
Exercise is the best way to clean your lymphatic system by moving any lymph fluids to your liver and kidneys to be filtered and excreted from the body. Try to move at least 30 minutes a day.
4. Skin brushing:
Dry skin brushing activates waste removal via your lymph nodes and should be done daily for best results, or even twice a day if you like. The pressure you apply while brushing your skin should be firm but not painful (avoid "scrubbing"). When brushing, always brush toward your heart, which is best for circulation and your lymphatic system.
5. Drink lemon water upon rising:
The acids and enzymes in the fruit have the best lymphatic draining and stimulating effects.
Try them out. The more of these you engage in the more you’ll feel the benefits of a healthy lymphatic system.
